Why did Streaming a movie gave me a message that it was using a large amount of memory and recommended shutting down the window?

This message means exactly what it says. That webpage you were on was using a lot of system resources, and in order to improve responsiveness, it recommends you close it. You don't have to of course, it is just letting you know.

There may be a way to wait for the movie to download, so it has a buffer

then if you could play it from your Mac, it wouldn't need live streaming(?)

Older technologies were usable in lower bandwidth, or failures of hi-tech.
