We were going to upgrade our sons phone today, but there has been an issue with turning off "find my phone" on his phone. Its an iPhone 8 btw.
I have turned off screen time for his phone on my phone, but his apple ID is still greyed out on his phone. We can not select his account on his phone. We have restarted his phone as well as disconnected and reconnected to the wifi. Also he has reset his network settings on his phone.
The issue has been resolved by erasing all settings on the phone.
As I said before, you’re doing it at icloud.com/find Go to that website and sign in with his Apple ID he uses on his iPhone.
Elaborate on how you know Find My is not off please. If signed icloud.com/find with the Apple ID used on his iPhone doesn’t show the phone anymore it means it is off.
i did not erase the phone. I reset all settings. Please stop replying to me as the issue has been resolved.

You can sign in at icloud.com/find to select and remove the phone from his Apple ID
I have signed into into iCloud and his phone is not on my account at all. Not in Find My Phone, not under My Devices or anywhere else.
You need to sign into his Apple ID, not yours.
We can not sign in to his Apple ID because that is greyed out in the Sign In selection under Settings. This option can not be selected.
Yes. We have done that. We have signed into his iCloud account with his username and password and turned off Find my phone as well as all location services. This was done on an Apple computer.
OK, then that means his Fund My iPhone is now turned off.
