SIM failure after updating to ios 14.4.1

I just updated to 14.4.1. The physical SIM for my India Airtel number is not being recognized. Says “SIM failure”. I restarted the iPhone. I removed and placed back the SIM tray. No luck. I use my Verizon number on the e-SIM. This is regarding my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Hello sreddy1111,

I had the same issue with iPhone X, but the SIM is working fine with iPhone 6. What I have figured out is after upgrading iPhone X to 14.4.1 Carrier setting upgraded to 45.0 (Setting ->General-About- under Primary), on iPhone 6 with iOS 12.5.1 Carrier is 36.0.

So we may have to get a new Airtel SIM that works with the current Carrier setting.
