Once I change my Apple ID, how do I get my iPad to recognize it? My 3rd generation (2012) iPad running iOS 9.3.6 keeps asking me to sign in with my old email address. There does not appear to be any way for me (or it) to update to my new email address.
That helped a good deal. I was able to sign out of the iTunes and App stores in Settings and change to my new address. This allowed me to both avoid the annoying sign in requests (once I put in the current ID and password) but it also seems to have enabled current access to my books. My contacts synched, which seems to indicate that my iCloud account is also working.
One problem (?) is that my iCloud account in Settings still bears the old email under my name. But when I click on my account "Contact Information", the new address appears correctly.
Try signing out of various services and sign back in again.
I suspect you have to sign out of everything (as described in the link I provided earlier) including iCloud.
I cannot find a way to sign out of iCloud.
That did it. I didn't scroll down far enough on the iCloud page to see the sign out. All's now well. Thanks.
