Sign into Paramount Plus on Apple TV
Subscribed on Apple TV, downloaded the App, cannot restore purchase. Says I had a subscription and I should sign up again. Works fine when I access it through the Apple TV app.

A Paramount+ subscription started outside of the Apple TV app, will require its own app.
A Paramount+ Channel subscription started inside of the Apple TV app, will require it to be viewed in the Apple TV app.
These two types of subscriptions are generally not exchangeable (although content providers can make provisions for a one-way crossover).

This makes no sense at all. If I have a username and password, I should be allowed to login on the TV app.
Tell Paramount that.
The Apple TV app channel subscription can be enabled to be used on Paramount's standalone apps and website as explained previously, but the reverse is not possible. Only Paramount knows why.
I just spent over an hour with Apple's tech support for this same issue. I'm not sure which of the following helped things work but here's what we did.
This time, the show played as it recognized my subscription--yay!
I had this very same issue so I dowloaded Paramount + to the Apple TV portion of my app and it downloaded and allowed me to sign in with the account I had created on my MacBook. To this date, I cannot delete the original Paramount+ on my Apple TV + screen. But I just used the icon on the main screen of Apple TV. The other Paramount + icon does not offer a place to sign-in so you can't reduce the monthly price from $9.99 to $4.99. I'm a recent cord-cutter and am not interested in getting streaming fees which take me right back to where I was prior to cutting the cord. I hope this helps someone, I worked on this for days.
I actually went into Apple TV settings, cancelled the "1 month, free trial" option and signed into the Paramount+ app online to create my account. From there I downloaded the new version of the app to my MacBook, which then transferred that app to my IPad and Apple TV on my smart TV. This also discontinued the $9.99 monthly fee for commercial-free episodes, and allowed me to sign up for a $4.99 monthly subscription fee. An option that did not come with the original Apple TV option. I'm cutting the cord and do not care about commercials as much as I do content of programming and pricing. My mute button works just fine.
That doesn’t happen on my iPad. I subscribed to Paramount + through Apple on my Apple TV. I can watch Paramount + through the Apple tv app ONLY on my tv (Apple TV box is hooked up to that). If I want to watch Paramount + on my iPad I have to go through the paramount + app. If I try through the Apple TV app, I get a pop up that asks me to sign up for Paramount +. They also don’t always sync.
As I said, I downloaded my paramount app outside of Apple TV, but rather online. The download prompted me to create a sign in account which the Apple version did not. Also the online version allowed me to pick the lower priced option of $4.99 w/commercials. I then downloaded the device on my IPhone and IPad. Both required me to sign in to my newly created paramount account and the rest is history, as they say. I should note that both the online and Apple versions of the app appear to be exactly the same. The online version does give us an opportunity to select your own monthly subscription. That was my experience, I don't know if it was for others.
I went into Apple TV app on my phone, then I went to search, typed paramount in and clicked on the paramount plus that came up.
long way around but worked for me.
Good to know you got it to work
Yes, I thing like cfondacci too.
They are the same channel provider, the same price with Apple TV+ and directly on Paramount+, the same login from my apple email account. And I can't use the Paramount+ app directly.
Is the most strange thing that I will need to cancel my Paramount+ inside Apple TV+ app to have it signed again by the Paramount+ running inside Apple TV.
wear-do.
Not sure my problem is exactly the same. I took the free week of Paramount+ with the Paramount+ app I downloaded from the App Store on my Apple TV. I let it roll over and charge me for the first month through my iTunes account, watching 1883, which was the original motivation. It rolled over again, charging me for an additional month yesterday, again through my iTunes account. However, starting last night, the Paramount+ app wants me to sign in or restore purchase through iTunes. I don't think I ever had login credentials and my Apple ID & password don't work. When I try to restore purchase, Paramount+ reports that I don't have a subscription. I sure would appreciate any help getting Paramount+ back online. Thanks!
Paramount+ reports that I don't have a subscription.
See your subscriptions overview - Apple. Does it say “Paramount+” or “Paramount+ tv channel”, or neither?
I had similar trouble here. Before I bought an new Apple TV I was using Paramount+ inside Apple TV+ app on a Samsung Smart TV.
Then when my new Apple TV came, I was surprised to have a Paramount+ Standalone app, so, I try it, with no exit.
Worked only inside Apple TV+ app.
And the strange thing was that some times I clicked on a movie from Paramount to watch and it try do open it on Amazon Prime (that I have too, and knew that exist a Paramount+ inside of it too, but knew that it won't open the Apple TV+ Paramount on it.)
All strange behaviors. Paramount+ exist inside almost every suite of iTV Providers but they are not interchangeable.
So, to fix those erroneous behaviors, I prefer to cancel my Paramount signature inside Apple TV+ app, and then sign in from the Paramount+ standalone app, with a new subscription.
That fix everything.
Apple TV now recognized it and even from inside Apple TV+ (that is inside the set top box Apple TV, rsrsrsrsr) it call the right app.
All of this is like parallel universes that all have Paramount+, but they are not the same...
lol
