If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Note: If iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.

And you tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing for your iPad Air 2?

You know, your iPad Air 2 will be 7-years old, this year, in 2021.

The upgrade/update to iPadOS 14 did NOT cause all of your iPad issues.

Your iPad, unknowing to you, already was having issues.

You never noticed, much earlier, that your iPad Air 2 battery was needing more frequent battery charges?

If your iPad is no longer charging or keeping a charge, it is possible ( and a coincidence ) that your iPad Air 2 battery has failed or is failing.

I strongly suggest you search online to locate and call contact your nearest, “local” Apple Store location to try/attempt to make an appointment to get your Apple iPad Air 2 diagnosed and options presented to

OR, failing that,

Contact Apple support via the contact support link located at the upper right hand corner of every Webpage of these Apple support communities.

Use the Device Performance and Battery support categories.

OR

by installing and using the Apple Support app found in the iOS App Store.

You better make sure wherever you take this iPad to knows what to do with Apple mobile devixes. Especially iPads.

With later iPads with a TouchID/Home button, if the electronics repair center is NOT careful to NOT disturb the TouchID button and NOT careful, in general, in taking apart iPads that have lots of tiny, fiddly connections with many things glued in place, that electronics place you found could permanently damage that iPad and completely make your iPad non-operational.

If the Touch ID/Home button gets accidentally disconnected, then the TouchID sensor in the Home button will forever be rendered non-operatiional.

To get a Touch ID button working again, needs a special tool and reset code that ONLY Apple and Apple authorised devixe repair centers have.

Non-Apple authorised repair centers have no access to this tool or the necessary reset code/s.

Close an app that's not responding

If an app stops responding or freezes, you might need to force it to close and then open it again.*

  1. From the Home screen of iPhone X or later or an iPad with iOS 12, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

Sears!? Online?

Actual Sears stores went out of business, EVERYWHERE, in our area many years, ago!

Sears is selling old iPad models?

An iPad Air 2 WILL BE 7-years old by October 2021.

With an iPad this old, it may not be worth putting anymore money into this iPad.

Especially so, if you didn’t pay all that much for such an old iPad model, in the first place.

The reason that battery died is maybe because that iPad model may had been new, old stock sitting around in a warehouse for many years!
