Screen always black

My new iPad I bought has serious serious issues. When it times out, it won’t turn on. Instead the screen will be a lit up black. Originally repeatedly pressing the power button would gradually restore the screen. But now it won’t restore at all and it’s totally useless. Work has moved me to a regional area where I can’t get to an apple store. This makes the iPad not fit for purpose and useless.

iPad, iOS 10

Try a "forced" restart of your iPad, using these instructions:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top (power) button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 20-40 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear).

If the issue still persists, it might be a screen problem but we, just users like you, cannot diagnose that kind of issue remotely, sorry. You need to contact Apple Support directly (they have tools to run remote diagnostics), using this link:--> Get Support
