MacBook Pro power button and display not working

I'm having an issue where my display isn't turning on and the power button isn't working either.

So to turn on my Mac I have to undo the screws on the bottom of the laptop, disconnect the battery, plug in the charger and then when the laptop turns on I plug the battery back in.


To be able to see anything I use an HDMI adapter and a tv screen, since my display will not turn on.


It's a mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro, it's definitely a hardware problem, is there a way to solve this? should I just get a new one?


I was wanting to know about trading my MacBook in for a new one, anyone have experience with that?

Looks like you are having some trouble with the display on your MacBook not working at times. We can absolutely see how that would be an issue and want to help! In this case since this device is no longer serviced through Apple directly, you may want to look into third party Apple Authorized Service Providers near you to see if any can help: Find Locations. You can look into trade in options with Apple as well, but due to the age of the device and condition, it may only be able to be recycled: Apple Trade In
