Can't log in from Windows 7

We have a Mac Mini running OS X 10.6.4 as file server. Recently, we've added some PC laptops running Windows Home Premium to our network, but they cannot log in as users to access data stored on the Mac. If we ran OS X server on the Mini would this make it possible for the Windows machines to log in? We did not previously have this problem with PC's running XP.
Thanks,
Ian

I do have the same issue with a Vista-Client (ultimate):

I changed the authentication-option to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated"and I'm still not able to log in... It just keeps telling us that we're using wrong credentials.

Are there similar suggestions for ugly vista-boxes?

Thanks and regards
Roman
