iPhone 11 Pro Voice Message - Recording Delay

When I record a message in the iMessage application to send to someone as a voice message, the recording starts about three seconds late. The microphone bar at the bottom is 'flat' and then suddenly starts picking up the voice after about three seconds. All the microphones are working fine in all of my other apps. It is just the iMessage app that doesn't pick up my voice immediately.

Does restarting your iPhone resolve the issue? Is there any debris in the mesh of your iPhone? Do you use a case or screen protector on your iPhone?
