iPhone disabled connect to itunes

i inherited my dads old iPhone 8 when he passed away recently. I do not know his passcode, he hasn’t used the phone for a few years since he switched to an android. When the phone is turned on it reads iPhone disabled connect to iTunes. can this phone ever be used reset and used again without the passcode? Thanks

You will need to reset the passcode. You will need a computer to complete this task. You can reset your passcode by following the instructions in this article by Apple âž” How to reset your passcode on a disabled iPhone. You will need a computer for this task and all your data on your iPhone will be wiped clean in the process.

Once the above is completed and you have reset the passcode then you may run into the Activation Lock during which time you will need the previous owner's Apple ID and Password. I am therefore not sure how successful you will be to be able to use that iPhone.
