Can't write on network disk on Catalina

Hi,

I have an sdd connected to a fritzbox 7430 that I wanted to use as a "nas" for storing some files. The disk that is inside the ssd was taken from a windows pc and has got two partitions (system and storage) that I don't know why the mac sees as two separated disks when connected directly on usb. I have erased and formatted the two disks (trying to cancel the system partition with no success) in exfat, since I want to use this disk also on windows in the future. This part went all well. Then I connected the disk to the fritzbox (that sees the disk with the factory name) but doesn't sees the two partitions, sees only the system one. I had on the storage one a photo folder (I can cancel it I have the copy) but I can't see it neither from the fritznas site neither from the finder (connection that took me almost 1 hour). In the end I have tried to write on the disk (system partition always) from the finder and it says error -43.

I don't know what to do

If you could help me it will be useful

Thanks in advance

Hi there Fra_345,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you have a disk with multiple partitions that you want to use, but it is not working the way you expect. ExFat formats can be done using disk utility, but they are for Windows compatibility and wouldn’t be compatible for use with your Mac. Learn about available formats here: File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac.

Learn more about formatting and using external hard drives with Mac here:

We hope this helps!
