Return to previous app

“Return to App” in top left corner bug

Ever since this morning when I tap a link that takes me to another app, for example in mail when I tap a link that takes me to safari, the back to app/return to app option appears at the top left of the screen and usually says whatever app I was previously in. However, it now just says “search” and if I tap it, it brings me to a blurry screen. No idea why it started happening or how to solve this issue. See picture for example.
