ipad storage problems

How do i free up space on my ipad? when i look in my total storage space the majority is used by something called “other”. I`ve tried to update my ipad and delete apps but everytime i delete an app which lets say takes up 200mb, no data is released and the ipad is still full. I have an icloud with plenty of space on it and everything that could be moved there has already been moved. Ive also tried to connect my ipad to my macbook but im not able to purge it through it.

40% is used by system

20% is used by photos mails etc.

and 40% is used by “other”

its an ipad 2 with 16 gb

How do i decrease the “other” size so i can download apps again?

If your internal storage is full, your only option is to better manage the storage that you have - and delete unused Apps or unneeded data.

“Offloading” Apps can be a helpful method of creating temporary space for the software update.

In this case, You should restore your device here are the steps here at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184. The system and other are occupying a lot of space than usual. And if there is junk mails and photos you should delete them. If problem persists please contact Apple Support at https://support.Apple.com
