ECC memory on Macbook Pro mid-2009

Hi. My MacBook has 2×2 GB memory cards. I can get hold of 2×4 GB memory cards to give it a boost but these are ECC cards while the Mac has non-ECC cards. I’d like to know if I can use the ECC cards, even knowing I will not take advantage of the ECC. I just need to make sure if the Macbook will accept the cards and “ignore” the ECC and this won’t harm the MacBook. I’m also trying to figure out if this MacBook uses 1.5 or 1.35V cards.
