Unlock my device to any network

If recently been given an iPhone 7 by a friend to see me through till my upgrade as my phone had broke.

Iv contacted o2 to unlock the device but they won't help.

Any unlock code or something I can do without paying a charge.

Apple chat wait time is taking forever to even START a CHAT
