Hi, I am about to order a new iPad Pro and am considering the free engraving option to put my name on it. Will this affect trade in value in the future if I want to upgrade the ipad?(or any other consequences)

Depending upon your region, engraving/personalisation can indeed affect both exchange (in the 14-day cooling off period) and future trade-in options.
Personalisation, for most, certainly removes much of the potential of selling an unwanted device privately.
Would personalisation make a device less attractive for theft...?
I would always recommend against engraving a device. Why potentially complicate (future) events; warranty claims, for example, can be difficult enough.

I had my name and phone number put on mine.
I don't care about the trade in value as I always have someone to give mine to.
