Mic hole

The Verizon guy thought he needed to insert something into the side hole to remove a Sim card from my watch when setting it up with my account. I later found out that the side hole is the mic. Could he have damaged the mic or water proof protection around the mic?

It depends on how far he poked into the hole. To see if the mic still works, try using Siri on. the watch:

Use Siri on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Chances are if the mic still works, the watch is still water resistant. (Apple Watches are water resistant, but not waterproof.). For more info, see:
