Apple Watch display won't turn off

Hi all,

my iwatch 6 display won’t turn off anymore. First i found out off the problem when my watch was charging and the nightstand mode stayed on. I tried everything from this topic https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8078455 but nothing helped. If i switch the setting nightstand mode in the off position, the display stays always on at the watch face i currently has chosen. Even when its charging and the setting: display always on is in the off position. Even when i wear my watch at day or night (depends on how i need to work) the display doesn’t always go out and yes, the setting display always on is still in the off position. To fix that problem (temporarily) i need to shut off the watch and reboot it, then its works for a couple off hours like it needs to work but after a while its f***ed up again and the display is back always on and also here the setting display always on is still in the off position.

does someone has the same problem and know a solution to that?

Besides everything explained above, i also did a hard reset (pressing digital crown and side button together til the apple logo appears) but that didn’t helped solving the problem either.

thank u very much

kind regards

with friendly greetings

nick

Hi Nick,

We're understanding you to say that the display on your Apple Watch is not going to sleep both when you're wearing your watch and when not wearing your watch. A restart typically resolves the issue temporarily but it reoccurs within a few hours.

Please be sure both your Apple Watch and companion iPhone are updated to the latest software versions. That will be iOS 14.4.1 for your iPhone and watchOS 7.3.2 for your watch. You can check on each in Settings > General > About.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update your Apple Watch

If you are installing updates, test after the updates and if the issue persists, move on with additional troubleshooting.

You had cited a link to another discussion which didn't have much troubleshooting in it, short of disable and enabling Bedside Mode. So let's next have you unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone, pair it up again and set your watch up as new. Then test the situation again. Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

Let us know how it goes.
