How do I edit which words are automatically capitalised?

I'm an animator and so I type the word "voiceover" a lot in my daily work. However, macOS automatically capitalises the word to VoiceOver because of the Mac feature of the same name.

There must be a dictionary somewhere that the Mac pulls these capitalised words from... can I edit this to stop my Mac auto-capitalising the word "voiceover"?

As far as I can determine, there is no system-wide override for the voiceover word conversion. Although in lowercase, it is a noun in the dictionary, it appears as VoiceOver in Apple's dictionary and deselecting that in the Dictionary application's preferences does not fix the problem.

The word voiceover remains unchanged when entered in TextEdit, LibreOffice Writer v7.1.1, or in Mellel v5.0.6 on macOS 11.2.3. I still think that you may need to enter voiceovers and backspace the letter 's' to avoid this issue.

It is a simple fix in Pages v10.3.9 Preferences > Auto-Correction panel. Deselect Capitalize words automatically. Once that is done, voiceover remains lowercase. Adding voiceover to the Ignored Words… list does not work as long as that Capitalize… selection is in effect:

This was the only change I had to make in Pages, even with Edit menu > Spelling and Grammar > Correct spelling automatically selected. Of course, this fix leaves voiceover unchanged but does compromise capitalizing the first letter of sentences. One can select the just changed VoiceOver, and on the secondary menu, choose to change back to voiceover, but that is a hassle too.

One can enter voiceovers and then backspace the letter 's' to avoid auto-correction to VoiceOver.

Just an addendum. One can have the Pages Preferences > Auto-Correction > √ Capitalize words automatically selected, and the following settings on the Edit menu:

Now, when typing the word voiceover, a floating correction box appears:

where you can dismiss the correction with an escape key, or by clicking the x on the floating panel. Any other keystroke will perform the replacement.
