Transfer photos from SD camera card

Recently when transferring anything more than a small handful of photos from my cameras SD card to my iPad (pro 11-inch) I get the following error message

“Not enough Space Available....”

I have plenty of space available on both my iPad (195 of 512GB used) itself and iCloud storage (760GB of 2TB used) plan. My iPad has been backed up and is updated to the latest PadOS (14.4.1).

This is a relatively new issue for me which cropped up maybe two months ago.

I have seen this problem brought up several times in previous forums and not a satisfactory answer has been obtained from what I can tell.

I’ve done all the usual stuff such as soft and hard resets, power cycles, etc.

On some days I take a lot of photographs, eg my child’s sporting events. It is extremely aggravating to have to download photos from the SD card reader in multiple small batches.

So basically I’m re-posting the question to see if anybody has come up with or found a solution.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you've been unable to import from SD card to your iPad. We'll do our best to assist with this.

For this specific issue, we'd recommend the following steps:

Verify you're using the right adapter: Import photos using Apple camera adapters
Open the Files app to see if the SD card shows up properly: Connect external devices or servers with Files on iPad If you can see the them in the Files app, attempt to save them to Photos.
Test another SD card that's formatted properly.

If it persists, then we'd recommend to Contact Apple Support
