My phone is in dark mode even though dark mode is off, how do I fix this?

The Smart Invert button was on, I turned it off and light mode is restored. I don’t know how that happened but thank you very much!
Force restart the iPhone as follows:
I have iPhone XR, I did the up volume and down volume buttons and then pressed the right side button until I got the Apple logo and it restarted, however my phone is still in dark mode.
I went into settings/display&brightness to double check and it is clicked on light mode. So my problem is not resolved.
