i have forgotten my iPhone password and i have tried too many times and now my phone has said disabled connect to iTunes. i have used my mac book and connected it to it and when i pressed restore my phone turned off and then just went back to the disabled connect to itunes screen. HELP

Per the steps you follow in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306 “Finder or iTunes will download software for your iPhone. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your iPhone will exit recovery mode, and you'll need to select your iPhone model above and repeat the steps to remove the passcode.”
I would do the steps again.
