Problem with New MacMini

My new MacMini has trouble. I keep getting a message "The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled". But no success.

How do I restore the original or a compatible version of mac-os on my 2012 mac mini I have a 2012 mac mini which I have just replaced with a new mac mini, I was following the instruction to get it ready to sell. This advised me to delete the contents of the disk and do a reinstall. The problem I have is all the install option fail because they say the disk has 'smart' errors but these are all trying to install versions of mac-os which are too new to run on the hardware I have. Any ideas on how to persuade this to install a version of mac-os that will work on my hardware? Thanks

“The version on the macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled” I acquired a used MacBook Pro, and when turning on the laptop it tells me “The version on the macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled” and “Use Recovery to reinstall macOS or select another startup disk” I click startup disk nothing is happening, I go to recovery and follow the instructions nothing is happening. I tried searching on support what to do and found institutions on how to download by going to utilities > terminal but it keeps failing. what can I do? [Re-Titled by Moderator]
