Hey there Arokiskram,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having some issues with the audio on your iMac. We’ll be happy to help with this.
You mention the issue is intermittent. Does this seem to occur only when listening to audio from a certain app? Do you notice this issue if you use headphones or an external speaker? Also, does adjusting the volume of the computer or the app the audio is coming from have any impact on this?
Another step that can further isolate the cause of this would be to test in another user account. Take a look at this article for info on how you can do this:
Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac
We hope this helps. Take care.
Hey Arokiskram,
Thanks for the update. In case the issue is isolated to just Zoom and Spotify, it may be a good idea to check for updates to the apps and if needed, delete the apps, restart your Mac, and reinstall the apps.
If Zoom is something you use through a web browser, try more than one web browser and see if the issue continues.
Kind regards.
Thanks for responding. The distortion occurs when I am using zoom or Spotify and rectified by restarting the iMac. I am monitoring this and next time it occurs, I'll see if the distortion happens using headphones and/or on a dowloaded track. I can also test this on another user account. Adjusting the volume on the computer has no impact on the distortion. I'll report back here if there are further developments.
