My new MacBook is not locating the source of my old MacBook in the transition stage and I was wondering what I can do or what is wrong because it has been on the same [loading] page for about an hour and it hasn’t found the source still.

You do not say how you are trying to connect the two machines....
Try a cable connection for best results, try a different cable if you are having an issue.
Alternative move your user data from a different source: Time Machine backup or Boot clone.
