Watch orientation

My iPhone is set so that my Apple Watch series 6 is to activate on my left wrist with crown in the left. I have double checked this AND powered both the phone and the watch off and on again. Not only does the watch not activate when raising my left wrist but now the display is upside down. Any suggestions?

Watch/settings/general/orientation and change your preferences there.
