Can I use Apple Watch Series 3 GPS to record exercise and listen to audio without the phone nearby?

Hi everyone!

I usually use my iPhone while running for mainly two things: recording my run with NRC and listening to audio. Recently, I have been thinking to get an Apple Watch so that I can leave my phone at home and use only the watch. However, since I'm not really doing much or looking for too many features, I wanna go with the cheapest watch: Series 3 GPS (no cellular).

My question is: With that model without cellular, can I use NRC to record my run and also listen to audio (mp3s downloaded on my iPhone - that I want to transfer to the watch - and also podcasts)?

I know the watch will probably need to sync every new exercise with NRC on my phone once I get home and connect the watch to WiFi, but my question is: can I do these two simple jobs (run recording + audio listening) with a GPS-only watch without taking the phone with me while running?

Thanks for your help!

As long as you download the music you want to listen to from your iPhone to your watch first, before you go in your run, you should be able to. See the first three paragraphs kin:
