Why does iPhone 12 torch turn off when the camera is turned off?
It makes sense that the flashlight turns OFF after an image has been taken or after the Camera app is closed. If you need to use the flashlight outside of the Camera app then you can access it from the Control Center and also on the Lock Screen.

Your camera determined that the ambient light combined with available aperture and shutter speed was ample for that particular photo. You can always tap on the flash light icon and set it to ON instead of Auto. This will allow you to use your flash as you see fit.

Axel F. - My mistake, I meant to ask why the torch goes off when I click on camera. I was trying to take a photo in a dark corner.
