Are you using Safari for the links?
Try installing this in Safe Mode, but not using Firefox...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup).
Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your MacBook Pro is a mid-2010 or newer model, click on High Sierra. If not, you can't at all.

1. Yes, it is.
2. People may choose not to upgrade for various reasons; the purpose of backing up the data is so they can recover from problems they encounter, or revert if necessary.

Thank Niel, I am a novice, i can use a computer but not that advanced. If its not an automatic upgrade, I fear of ruining something I cannot fix. I have a MacBook pro mid 2010 that is my problem is it compatible? And if so why wasn't it an automatic upgrade. I am trying to install a program that needs 10.13 or higher.
Whenever I click on links to download earlier OS X (High Sierra or Mojave), I encounter the "Item Not Available" message in iTunes: "The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the U.S. store." (Neither in my local store.)
How to download them? Many thanks for any help with this!
Can i go somewhere that will give me a step by step instructions
