Olympus Workspace deleting orf (RAW) and jpg files

Hi,

I'm new to MacOS and wonder if anyone can help me, my camera has two memory cards, I save RAW to one, and JPG to the other.

Both cards are download to the same directory (folder) on the iMac solid state drive. I'm not using the macOS default directory "Pictures" however I see that the MacOS has made a directory Olympus Workspace that contains "Photo Booth Library and Photos Library.photoslibraray I've not used or configured either of these, and I keep my photos in another directory.

No doubt macOS has associated Olympus Workspace with photo files? Hence creating the Olympus Workspace sub directory in the Photos directory?

I use Olympus Workspace to preview the images before editing them in Affinity Photo.

Olympus Workshop only loads (or seems to) the RAW files, if I delete a RAW file, the JPG file is also deleted.

I don't have a problem with this happening, I'd just like to know, is it the Olympus Workspace software that is doing this? Or is it Finder?

If Finder is doing this are the JPG's deleted or just hidden?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Hey DougFo,

It appears that you're wondering if Finder on your iMac or the Olympus Workspace app are deleting both the RAW and JPG file when you delete a photo. If you are deleting within the Olympus Workspace app, it could be possible that the app itself is moving both of those files to the Trash. You may want to reach out to the app developer to gather more details on that: Contact Us

If you'd like, you can read more about deleting photos on a Mac device here, but it would be within the Photos app: Delete photos or recover deleted ones in Photos on Mac

Take care!

Thanks for the information Yer_Man.

I'm fumbling my way around this operating system, never used it before, started with a Spectrum, then VAX / VMS, Unix, DOS, Windows, and now MacOS.

I need a system that links into your thoughts and solves them for you, in fact a robot that did all of the work generated by thought would be nice as well :-)
