Adding contact to existing text string

When I try to add another iPhone person to my text string, the ‘Add Contact’ choice does not appear, even though the existing person or people are also iPhone users. All I see is ‘Send my current location’ and ‘Share my current location’.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 14

Hey there Docjhh,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you'd like to add someone to a group message, but the option isn't there. We'll be glad to assist you.

The option to add people to the chat is available when iMessages are used. There may be someone in the group that doesn't have iMessages enabled, even though they are using an iPhone. More information is here: Add and remove people in group text messages

You can view more about group messages here: Send a group text message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Have a great day.
