Updating Song Info In Music Library

May I ask for some help updating artist, album and song info? Background: My music is stored on my MacPro laptop, and I do not subscribe to either Apple Music or the iCloud Music Library. So, I started updating info by highlighting a song in the Music window, clicking Get Info, making the desired changes (e.g. standardizing artist names or adding album artwork), and then saving by clicking OK. However, the changes do not appear to be pushed back to update the laptop's library data (the iTunes/Music folders) as seen in Finder window. Is there a way to automate or force the update? I want to ensure that I'm doing it correctly (and permanently) before doing many updates - but can't find guidance in the Apple Music User Guide for Big Sur. Thanks!
