How do you clear terminal history mac big sur

That’s not what clearing the history does.
You can repeat the command as many times as you’d like, but it likely will not work any of those times, either. If it failed, you either didn’t type it correctly or provided incorrect arguments.
Clearing the history will just remove the list of commands you’ve run. It won’t make the incorrectly entered command work.

Thank you so much for your reply Barney-15E.
I was trying to set my computer up to Backup and Restore my iPhone to an external drive.
As I am new to using terminal, I was hoping that by deleting the commands I made, I would restore my Mac back to how it was before I made the commands and I could re-enter the commands again and do it right.
The commands I made were to change a file name; make 2 new files; and a shortcut file to direct the backup to an external drive.
I hope you understand my inexperienced IT language.
Once again, thank you for your offer of support.
Kind regards
Gary
Deleting the history does not revert the commands. You have to restore the items you deleted from a backup, and remove the symbolic link.
Apple recommends that you do not move the location of the iPhone backups.

Once again thank you Barney-15E
Luckily I haven't actually deleted anything, only added a folder and a shortcut.
I believe if I delete these additional folders, that would remove the symbolic link.
I will give it a go
And yes, I don't normally go outside Apples suggestions, but I just don't have enough space to back up my iPhone on my 2020 Mac and can't afford unlimited iCloud.
Thank you again Barney-15E, you have been very helpful
Kind regards
Gary
