not enough startup disk space

How can I get more memory to be able to work on my macbook pro

I get a message not enough startup disk space.

I backed up my mac to an external USB storage with Time Machine

I cleared any files but I still have my music and photos that I have not deleted afraid the time machine didn't get them. I read you can not transfer photos to USB storage if you backed up with time machine because the photo files can be corrupt.

I don't know what to do now.

I don't want to look all my photos.

MacBook Pro 15″, OS X 10.11

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:
