Thanks to you and to Tom. I guess that earlier versions of FCPX are simply not available on Apple web site. I had the app on another computer, so I compressed it and simply copied it onto another thumb drive and then into the MacBook laptop. That worked.

In addition to what Tom said: why do you want 10.4.7 specifically? I don’t think you can get that version from Apple.

The version you can update to depends on the OS you are running, and you can only get the most recent version compatible with that OS.

Apple only has available the last supported version for previous OSs. 10.4.6 was the last supported for High Sierra I think. 10.4.10 I think the last for Mojave, and the current version works in Catalina and Big Sur.
