Deleted Apple ID stuck on devices

Long thread!!

Hi! I hope this helps anyone looking for ways to get rid of their deleted Apple ID that's stuck on the devices.

It started when I needed to change my region so I could download amazon Alexa as it wasn't available in my country. But I couldn't because I had store credit which I ended up buying random apps just to exhaust it. Unfortunately I had $1 or less of store credit and decided to delete that Apple ID I used so I could create another one. I requested for my ID to be deleted and unfortunately didn't sign out of both my iPhone and MacBook (note, I received an email from apple telling me to log out as it would take only a few days for my ID to be deleted) so I take full responsibility for not logging out.

Anyway, my ID was deleted and I was stuck with a deleted ID that I couldn't log out of. And both devices kept asking to log in.

I called apple, the asked for proof of purchase. Now the downside was, my iPhone was a used one I had gotten barely two weeks before all this stress. I only had my receipt. and because the country I reside in does not have official Apple Resellers, it was hard to get the first owners first receipt.

I sent my receipt but it wasn't enough. I called and called and at that point I knew nobody could help but me because it was policy. I managed to get the receipt of the previous owner and I was asked to restore my phone via iTunes.

I called apple twice to make sure if I restored, I wouldn't be prompted for my old ID( hey, can't blame me)

These were the steps I followed

iPhone update

Took almost 5 hours to download newest software via itunes

Took about 10 minutes do download

iPhone Restore

Took about 10 minutes

Restoring from back up about 8 minutes

Asked to put in old ID, I skipped

At this point I realized I made a mistake. I should have chose the option to restore iPhone as new instead of back up ( don't make the mistake from the previous step)

Attempted to restore again

Exactly 10 minutes, might differ, so be patient.

Restarted for about 10 minutes

iTunes page will be blank, you can’t locate your device.

Message saying iPhone can't be activated because the activation information could not be obtained from the device. Disconnect your phone etc (Ignore)

At this point, your iPhone will come on. Log in to wifi, set up passcode and yay!!! Good as new.

I'm not sure but I think I was able to restore because I used my MacBook and its already synced with my iPhone.

I don't think it will work for stolen phones or phones that the previous owner can't be reached. just thought to add that.

Lastly always get the receipt from the previous owner.

Good luck

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14
