does apple watch 6 or se alert me when bluetooth connection to my iphone is lost?

I am in my 70s and am considering buying an Apple Watch 6/SE primarily for fall detection. A cellular version of the watch seemed a no brained but wouldn’t work for me as I travel internationally. I’m OK with my iphone making the emergency call in case of a fall, therefore, it is critical that the watch alerts me whenever it loses Bluetooth connection to my iPhone. Is it true that Apple Watch does not support this feature?

As far as I know, you can see the status of the connection, but you won't get an alert. See the 'Check the connection between your iPhone and Apple Watch' section in:

About Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Also (as that article says), if Bluetooth isn’t available, your Apple Watch will try to use Wi-Fi. For example, if compatible Wi-Fi is available and your iPhone isn't in Bluetooth range, your Apple Watch uses Wi-Fi.

There is an app "Phone Buddy" that says it will notify you if your Apple Watch and iPhone move out of range of each other.

But you should be careful about battery drain using this app.
