Excel Macros

I use excel spreadsheets for calculations and need to activate macros. Excel for IOS devices doesn't appear to allow for this. Any recommendations for workarounds or other programs?

I haven’t used Excel in 10 years (I now use Apple’s Numbers application).

This information from Microsoft seems to state that although you cannot create Macros on your iPad, you may still run existing Macros assuming you’re using Office 365.

If you want to design and edit macros in an iPad I don’t think that there is an easy way to do it-

However, there’s always a way to do it depending on how far you want to take it! 😁

A couple of things that come to mind you could try;

  • Download a Remote Desktop app and sign in to your computer. If you’re on the same network and say want to connect to a PC I would recommend using the app ‘Microsoft Remote Desktop’ found in the AppStore.
  • As an alternative to previous suggestion, if you’re not on the same network as your computer but still have your PC or Mac turned on and connected to the internet you could use something like Chrome Remote Desktop plugin or TeamViewer.

Now if you don’t like the Remote Desktop option I do recall having read somewhere that you could install an add-on or something of sorts and either install to the web application of excel or directly in the iOS app itself that would enable office-js / vba / macros but I can’t promise that’s still the case today.

I hope that might help you a bit or at least push you in the right direction to find an answer 😃
