Apple Music iCloud status error unable to reset path to local file

I have a large music library and after I subscribed to Apple Music, some tracks/albums have their cloud status as ERROR.

I am no longer able to play them even if they are in my local iTunes media folder.

Is there any way to import them back without losing the play counts and/or creating duplicates?

Thank you.

I've tried that but no luck. The track is added as a new one, it ends up duplicating the track in the album.

EDIT: Turns out, it DID work, with a few more steps.

  1. Uncheck and check Sync library (all tracks in error reset to waiting)
  2. Dragged the tracks back to library (which displayed as duplicates)
  3. Forced library sync to cloud (which made the tracks merge and nothing was lost)
  4. All is well in the world.

See Identify cloud status icons in your music library on your Mac or PC - Apple Support. What is the cloud status of the two copies. I'm sure I've seen them merge before. Perhaps you need to select both, use right-click and try Add to Cloud Library.

EDIT: Ah, good to hear! 🙂

Some had the exclamation mark and I was able to fix those. But for the most part, their location is « cloud » and their status is « Error », so now I'm unable to play them nor upload them to the cloud.

I'm guessing my only option is to rebuild most of my library from scratch.
