Hello leighovo,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, you're trying to do an NVRAM reset but nothing happens. We're happy to help!

From the article you came from, Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac, it states to ensure you don't have a firmware password turned on. Were you able to check and see if there is one on your Mac and if so were you able to turn it off and retry the NVRAM?

"If your Mac is using a firmware password, this key combination does nothing or causes your Mac to start up from macOS Recovery. To reset NVRAM, first turn off the firmware password."

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!
