How to safely and completely uninstall google chrome?

Last October I put google chrome in the trash and then my airbook died - literally - and had to be taken to a an apple service centre to be resuscitated (after several days and hours of trying things at home with on-phone apple support).

Now I can see that Chrome is somehow still in my applications folder and I don't want it there. How can I completely and safely uninstall chrome without doing any harm?

Thank you.

Always follow the developers instructions to remove an app. Here are Googles instructions for removal;

Mac

  1. At the bottom of your computer screen, in your Dock, right-click Chrome.
  2. Select Quit.
  3. Open Finder.
  4. Go to the folder containing the Google Chrome application on your computer.
    • Tip: It may be in your Applications folder. If not, go to File  Find, and search for "Google Chrome."
  1. Drag Google Chrome to the Trash.
  2. Optional: Delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history:
    1. At the top of the screen, click Go  Go to Folder.
    2. Enter ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome.
    3. Click Go.
    4. Select all the folders, and drag them to the Trash.

They do fail to mention "empty the trash" and for good measure I would restart.
