Trying to install RAM

Just tried to upgrade my memory on my iMac 2017 using RAM according to the specifications. But when I installed it in the computer and tried to turn it on, the computer wouldn't boot up. There may have been a brief sound, but no light, and no power or response for at least 1-2 minutes.

Is this an issue with the RAM I bought? Or is there something I am missing?

Computer:

iMac 2017 27inch

3.4 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

16 GB 2400 Mhz DDR4

Tried to Install:

OWC 32GB (2x16GB) 2400MHZ DDR4 SO-DIMM PC4-19200 Memory Upgrade for 2017 iMac 27 inch with Retina 5K Display

whenever you install new RAM in a mac, upon first boot up the mac needs to verify the new RAM. this process can take a minute or two. if it's still taking that long to boot up on the second or subsequent start ups, there may be an issue with the modules. follow Jack-19's advice and re-install the factory RAM modules. fortunately, you purchased your RAM from OWC. as long as you have your amazon invoice, (or have access to it online) and you left the OWC labels on the modules, you will have no trouble exchanging them. OWC provides excellent customer support.

Did you fully seat the new modules in the slots. Sometimes it takes a little more force to fully seat new modules into slots that have never had modules installed in them.

I would try again, only this time push a little harder on each module to make sure that each is fully seated in the slot.
