my iphone has said temperature for 3 hours and has fully cooled off a long time ago

what should i do? it won’t work at all it just says temperature

You can try to force restart the device. See this, If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

If it remains on the temperature warning, you need to contact Apple Support.
