iPhone X SIM locked to a another country Carrier

(South Africa) Our company bought an iPhone X's in 2016 via amazon and it arrived carrier locked on T-Mobile. Calls have been made and emails sent to T-Mobile, which was not fruitful. We also tried 3rd party unlocking methods which also didn't work. A lot of money to try and get it unlocked but nothing is working. T-Mobile said the device never registered on their network, therefor cannot be unlocked.

Any ideas?

The minute you found out that the iPhone was locked and your SIM was not supported then it should have been sent back to the seller. It can also be that it may really not be locked to T-Mobile (I know you said that there was a SIM card in the box from T-Mobile). I recommend that you contact ➔ Apple Support and ask them whether they can confirm that the iPhone is locked to T-Mobile.

How did you find out that the iPhone was locked to T-Mobile? Not sure about the history of your iPhone so difficult to offer the right type of help. Is it possible that the iPhone is locked to T-Mobile EU? I state this because your company bought the iPhone in 2016 in South Africa. If nothing works then can you register the iPhone with T-Mobile and then use it for a month and in the mean time get T-Mobile to unlock it while it is your carrier? Ask them for other options.

We actually bought the iPhone via Amazon, which was imported at that stage. When our corporate carrier's sim card was inserted, the phone went straight to SIM not supported when trying to activate. We also found a T-Mobile SIM in the packaging. Phone was paid in full, it was around $1400 back then.

How would i register the phone with T-Mobile which doesn't operate in South Africa?
