Slack not in Notification Preference list

I am using mac OS Big Sur. I am not getting any notification for Slack. By googling, I got suggestion to change the notification setting for slack from the mac's Notification preference. But, Slack is not listed in the list of apps in the Notification preference. But it is installed in the application folder and, I am already using it. Any idea?

This works for me:

  1. Go to "Direct Message" --> your name
  2. Type "/remind me" and Enter
  3. You'll see a notification pop-up
  4. Now Slack show up in System Preferences --> Notification

I GOT IT WORKING! Okay, it might be just me, but here is how I got it:

Open slack, go to Slack > preferences > Notifications and click on 'All new messages'; then scroll down and also select 'show a badge'.

Then ask someone to send you a direct message, and click off their name. Then when they message you, a big notification comes through on the top right, click on it and it'll open up Apple's notification center, and selects Slack (which did not even exist in the list before!). Now you can control the notifications. You can now go back to slack, and tell it not to notify you for everything, the red dot still works.

Let me know if this works for others :)

Following these steps as suggested by slack support team resolved my issue,

As a next step, I'd like to see if restarting the Notification Centre via the Activity Monitor fixes the issue for you. You can do this by following the below steps:

  1. Open up Activity Monitor
  2. Type Notification in the top right search bar Select Notification Center and then click on the stop sign shaped button near the top left corner to kill the process.
  3. Wait 10 seconds and then start Slack up again. The new Notification Centre process should behave as expected.

mainul89,

Thanks for getting back to us. Let's check in a different user on your Mac to isolate things a bit more. Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac will walk you through creating one if needed.

Does the Slack application appear in System Preferences > Notifications here?

If not, have you had a chance to reinstall the app as well?

If these steps don't help, then we'd recommend getting in contact with the app developer to report this.

Thanks.

I was having this same issue with not receiving any Slack notifications and not having Slack in my System Preferences>Notifications, but I just found my solution and thought I'd share in case you are still having the issue. I also have the most updated OS and Slack.

It was a silly fix, but I didn't know I had "Do Not Disturb" mode set as "Always On". Once I deactivated it, I received a Slack notification, and Slack has now appeared in my System Preferences>Notifications.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem. I just erased my iMac Pro and did a clean install of Big Sur 11.4, installed the Slack ver. 4.17.0 desktop app and it's not listed in the Mac notifications system preference. Previously I was running Big Sur 11.4 which had been upgraded from Catalina and Slack had been running on Catalina. The upgraded Big Sur 11.4 showed Slack in system prefs>notifications.

Somehow it appears a new installation of Slack on a new, non-upgraded version of Big Sur does not have a notifications entry in system preferences.

I'm having the same exact issue except I upgraded my Mac from Sierra and then had an issue and Apple Support Reinstalled BigSur from Scratch but then I Restored from my Time Machine Backup.

MacOS Big Sur 11.4 with Up-to-date Slack and Slack is not present in the notifications center.

Not set to do not disturb and all Slack settings set to notify.
