I keep getting a request to sign into an email account that does not belong to me

I keep getting a request to sign into an email account that does not belong to me. the thing pops up every time I open my computer. It says

Sign into iMessage.

Enter the password for your Apple ID to continue using your messages on this Mac. Then the email is different. It is not mine and it gives me no option to change it. Can you help?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

In Messages/Preferences/Accounts, can you click the + sign at the bottom, and add your Apple ID information? Then on the account that is there now, delete the other account using the minus sign or uncheck Enable this account.

Quit/reopen Messages and test.
