The Renew Lease button simply requests a new IP Address from your local DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) server. This function is normally performed by your WiFI Router.

When a local IP Address is assigned by DHCP, it will have a validity period (the “lease”). Your device will automatically renew the lease upon expiry. The Renew Lease button is just a manual method of triggering the renewal; when renewed, the assigned IP Address will usually remain the same.
