Series 6 not setting up family share

The brand new Apple Watch series 6 I just bought is not setting up with Family Share. It’s saying I need a Series 4 or newer?? What to do?

Are you sure it is a series 6 (with cellular)? See:

Identify your Apple Watch - Apple Support

or directly on the watch:

How to find the serial number or IMEI for your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Have you followed all these steps:

Set up an Apple Watch for a family member - Apple Support

and see the 'What you need' section in the above link.

Note:  A cellular plan isn't required to set up an Apple Watch for a family member, but is necessary for some features.
