I agree that the scam calls are increasing at a rapid pace. They take up the call recipient's time and, at times, money as well. They are a nuisance.
What are others doing about it? The major carriers are working to setup systems to detect the call as scam and either automatically block it or tag it as a scam call before passing the call to the recipient. There is still a lot of work to do in this area and the work continues. The FCC is working tirelessly to block those numbers and investigate those who break the robocall and phone advertising rules. The trouble is that the caller often spoofs the phone number AND the name caller ID.
What can you do about it? Here, we are left to field those nuisance calls, that get through and some of us fall for those scams as well. Educate yourself about the scams that are being carried out. Hangup as soon as you detect that it is a marketing call. Do not respond to any strange and unknown group chats. Remove yourself form the group and then delete it. Do not provide any personal information over the phone to any unknown person that calls you. Following these practices will eventually lessen the scam incoming calls. It will take patience on your part. You can even contact your carrier and see what it has to offer to block or warn you of an incoming scam call. Of course, you can always change your phone number however that in and itself is a pain in the back.
I wish that there was a One Switch and Scam OFF process however that does not exist.
